New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) has awarded St Johns Hill School in Whanganui $25,000 towards their exciting new playground project.
Administration Manager Lynette Brown says, “Our school’s large grounds offer various play areas, but with growing student numbers and evolving needs, our playgrounds need an update.”
The new playground will replace the current setup, with some components of the current playground dismantled and recycled to other areas around the school, such as the native reserve with swings in the trees and the pirate ship, both of which are very popular with younger students.
The upgraded playground featuring climbing walls, jungle nets, monkey bars and a new slide will benefit not only the school but also the wider community, as the grounds are popular for family gatherings and picnics during weekends and holidays. Student Coby shares, “I can’t wait to try out the new playground with my little sister. She loves playgrounds!”
NZCT’s GM of Grants, Marketing, and Communications Ben Hodges adds “we’re thrilled to help the school improve its play areas so pupils can better explore, play, and grow. NZCT is grateful for the responsible gaming fundraising partnerships we share with our Whanganui venues Caroline’s Boatshed, Castlecliff Hotel, Shotz Bar and Stellar Bar that made our grant possible.”
